Mind Over Matter; Fire walking for the first time

firewalkIt was a dark, cold January night. I was standing outside with my bare feet freezing while curling my toes to keep them warm.

“I can do this!” I thought to myself. If anything, my feet will be nice and toasty after this walk. I stand there looking at the glowing embers of the fire walk stretching out a mile in front of me. My heart pumping, I take a deep breath and begin the walk across the glowing embers. For all the time you think to yourself in life, “I can’t do it, I can’t make it, it’s too hard,” this was something I refused to back down from.

One step, two steps, three steps and suddenly, the end was near! The last step was a moment of great triumph. If I can walk across hot embers, then I can do anything if I put my mind to it! I would never have had the chance to do it if it hadn’t been for Innovative and the Kickoff. We are going to rock the socks off the other teams this year ’cause we’re E-10 U UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO TEAM!!!!

  1. Awesome. I remember when you went across there. That was a fun night and it’s great to read how people felt doing it. Might help some of the new people decide whether they want to walk or not — and either way is OK. It’s a personal choice.
