Yaskawa Remodels Training Facility

September 19, 2012

Yaskawa runs outstanding customer training classes both in the field and now at their newly remodeled customer training facility in Waukegan, Ill. Our annual VFD training is a customer favorite, as is instructor tag team Steve and Carol Whittaker. Back at HQ, the dual 52-inch televisions are cool, but we’d really like to see Yaskawa invest in a more robust camera.

Automatic Energy Savings with VFDs Saves Motor Life, Too

September 18, 2012

In most pump applications, motors do not need to run at full throttle to get the job done. Yaskawa’s Michelle Bartlelson reminds us on the Linkedin Drives board that, on average, these motors can meet demand by running at just 70 percent of shaft speed. The additional system capabilities, she writes are usually reserved to accommodate future expansions or infrequent increased load demands. And that’s where a VFD can help. Various controllers can be used to run a motor at reduced speed.

A VFD can be used to operate a pump motor at any speed, and operating a pump motor below base speed to meet the requested demand can show significant energy savings. There is a whole article about it in Modern Pumping Today magazine.

Hey, I Just Met You. . .

September 12, 2012

. . . and this is craaaazy,
but here’s our number,
so call us, maybe?

Call Innovative . . . maybe?

We have all heard that horribly awesome song. It plays and we think ‘oh man’, but by the end we are secretly yelling at the top of our lungs with our windows rolled up. It’s funny how it expresses exactly how companies work together, a lot like dating.

One company, like Innvoative-IDM, calls on another company with the hopes of a return ‘HEYYYYYY!’.  Sometimes they get lucky and a beautiful relationship starts, or sometimes they just don’t mesh well together.

So what makes it WORK? That feeling, that BUZZ that’s created when a date goes JUST right! On the date, you feel like the person will always be there for you, that they have so much to offer and take care of your needs.  You laugh, you have that one awkward silence, you have so many questions but by the end of the date…a good date…wait, scratch that…a LEGENDARY date…you just want more and more because you know you found that someone who just fits!

I’m not much for words or metaphors and all, but I know that we strive to create that buzz in your world.  So hey, go on a date with Innovative-IDM and try us out.  If you don’t like us and we aren’t creating that BUZZ for you, our feelings will only be slightly hurt 😉 but as long as you are happy, that is all that matters to us.

Cheers and have a wonderful rest of the week!    -The Hunter-

9-11-01 Humble Salute, Many Thanks

9-11-01 Humble Salute, Many Thanks

On Sept. 11, 2001, I was driving into the Dallas office listening to 1080 AM when reports started coming in about the mysterious tragic events unfolding in New York City. It sounded very serious and I needed to see the images that surely would be on TV.

Without a second thought, I turned around and started heading for the nearest store open that time of morning where I could pick up a television, Sam’s Club. While looking at the TV’s in Sam’s with an old Korean War Veteran he quipped, “They have no idea the Bear they just woke up. We’ve been asleep for awhile now.”

As you may recall, things didn’t develop all at once that morning. In fact, I actually made it to the office and watched the first tower fall on that new TV.

Looking back, I’d have to agree with that Korean Vet. It was a wake-up call. Now we just need to make sure we don’t doze off and that my friends, is all our jobs. We are the keepers of our country.

My prayers and sincere gratitude go out to the families whose lives forever changed on 9/11/01 as well as to the many men and women who have volunteered and some cases laid down their lives so that we can take a flight, ride a train or go to the local shopping mall and feel….well, safe.

Here’s a salute to those men and women who have stepped up when necessary and given to our great country all that was asked of them, and in some cases, everything they had to give.
