SMC Customer’s Reliability & Profits Improve

With Series IR Precision Regulators and Series AK Regulators

Application:  An OEM was experiencing inconsistent quality, yield and reliability in their production process.  The cause was a manual adjustment of the emission of gases within their process.  This manual adjustment resulted in inconsistent results.  If the customer could automate this manual part of the process, they could solve their problem.

Outcome:  SMC Los Angeles sales engineers designed a system to deliver the gases through calibrated, fixed orifices at a constant regulated pressure.  This ensures the exact same gas flow and a perfect, consistent process for the OEM.  The constant gas pressure was accomplished using pneumatically actuated regulators: Series AK 10PA, remotely piloted by a Series IR Precision Regulator.  SMC sales engineers added an extra safety feature of purging the gas lines of flammable gas when the process is not in use.  Further, SMC valves were used to provide a nitrogen purge which prevents accidental ignition.

The OEM yield, reliability and profits have improved since the new systems incorporating these SMC products were installed and brought on line.

Series AK Regulators (AK10PAS 2P 44 HF) – to allow regulated flammable gases through to the Series VXA valves
Series VXA, VX300 Valves (VX313V-00-GR1, VXA2240M-03N-1) – to release the gases through to the fixed orifices
