Omron Closes Service Centers — Not True

August 31, 2010

Innovative-IDM is comprised of the former Innovative Automation and Omron Service Centers. Innovative Automation purchased Omron Service Centers from Omron Electronics in August.

So, one of our competitors in Tennessee starts a rumor erroneously gets word out that Omron has closed down the Service Centers. NOT SO. It’s now called Innovative-IDM and the toll-free numbers are 800.395.4106 or 877.906.2100.

Field service, board repair, automation and control parts and systems, custom panel building, retrofitting…..you need it, we got it. And we are NOT closed.

Innovative Automation Acquires Omron Service Centers

August 30, 2010

Acquisition creates strong customer-focused repair facility, field service provider and automation and control parts distributor.

New name is Innovative-IDM.

Carrollton, Texas – Innovative Automation, one of Texas’ leading distributors of factory automation and controls parts and a three-time INC 5,000 Award recipient, announced today it has purchased Omron Service Centers (OSC) of Houston, formerly known as IDM (Industrial Drive Maintenance). The seller was Omron Electronics LLC of Schaumburg, Ill.

Innovative Automation will combine with OSC to form Innovative-IDM with an Internet URL of www.innovativeidm.com

“Opportunities like this merger only come along once in a lifetime,” said Gene Gray, who as president of Innovative Automation spearheaded the acquisition. Gray also will lead Innovative-IDM. “These two groups combine some of the top talent in the business for controls, automation, repairs and field service. The real winner will be our combined customers.”

Innovative Automation brings with it a blue chip product lineup that includes Omron, Parker, SMC, Wago, Yaskawa and many other leading brands. OSC brings nearly four decades of expertise in field service and component repairs and is an undisputed authority on everything related to AC and DC Drives.

“Moving forward, we’ll keep doing — and get back to doing — what’s made Innovative Automation and IDM the awesome customer-centric organizations they’ve been known for,” said Gray. “After all, we are known as the home of legendary customer service. We have a lot to live up to.”

Innovative Automation is headquartered in Carrollton, Texas. Prior to acquiring OSC, Innovative had 37 employees spread between locations in Carrollton (Texas), Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

OSHA Announces Increased Penalties for ‘Serious’ Violations, Repeat Offenders

August 24, 2010

OSHA recently announced administrative enhancements to its penalty policies, specifically addressing those penalties that are considered “too low to have an adequate deterrent effect.” These policies will reportedly become effective over the next several months. Innovative can help you avoid any plant or factory penalties with an array of Omron STI safety products.

Some of the more significant changes include:
• The average penalty for any violation deemed “serious” will increase from $1000 to between $3000 and $4000
• The time frame in which a company will be considered a “repeat offender” will increase from 3 to 5 years
• Companies with repeat violations within the 5 year time frame will be penalized 10% more than companies without repeat violations
• Minimum fines will increase to $500 and maximum fines could go from $7000 to $12000 if legislation currently before Congress is passed into law.

Additionally, employers with a history of serious OSHA violations and repeat offenses can expect more frequent OSHA inspections with mandatory follow-up inspections. If there are safety concerns at other workplaces under the control of the employer, OSHA may also more frequently inspect those associated workplaces.

Reason #401 to Work at Innovative: Atomic Sugar Bomb

August 20, 2010

It was a week ago today when Vanessa Adams walked into work only to find . . . well, we guess it’s a birthday cake. After all, it was Vanessa’s birthday, and co-worker Britt Welch took five days a few moments to obtain a building permit whip up this sugar bomb cake.

We all took our turns at this thing at lunch. Thanks for sharing, Vanessa, and thanks for bringing the cake, Britt. Sure makes for a cool Friday at the office — even if it wasn’t payday.
